History

Thane district is located on the north-western side of the state of Maharashtra and is an immediate neighbour of Mumbai City and a part of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The average literacy rate is 70.6% for men and 79.27% for women.

In 2018, Udayan Care decided to intervene with its’ Udayan Shalini Fellowship Programme in the Bhayandar area of Thane district. With the help of the existing core team at USF Mumbai Chapter and the additional help of our local contacts, references, and schools, we inducted 40 underprivileged girls from Class XI into the USF Thane Chapter. Since then, the chapter now supports 110 ambitious and enthusiastic girls.
