Our Success Stories

Ruhi Mahajan

Udayan Ghar and Aftercare
At just nine years old, I faced a critical situation, leaving behind a father consumed by substance abuse and a grandmother unable to provide care. My siblings and I sought refuge at the Hope Foundation Organization, where our journey to a better life began. With the intervention of Dr Kiran Modi, Udayan Care welcomed us into its embrace, offering not only shelter but a proper family environment. Mentor mothers, Usha Pratap Singh, Teji Anand, Brinda Syali, and later Aneesha Wadhwa, all my loving aunties and life-long mentors, became our guiding lights, nurturing us alongside other children in a communal setting akin to a joint family. I found more than just material support; I discovered love, education, and a sense of belonging. Overcoming adversities, I pursued education and diverse career paths, eventually finding myself as an Operations Manager at eMbrace, dedicated to making mental health care accessible to all. Married to my childhood friend, blessed with two sons, and fulfilled in both career and family, I reflect on my journey with gratitude. Udayan Care was my vessel through life's storms, guiding me to a tranquil shore. I am not merely a survivor; I am a testament to resilience and the profound impact of support and compassion.

Life was never kind to us. Every meal was a battle, every day a fight under my father's harsh rule. When we finally left for Delhi, hoping for a fresh start, fate had other plans—I got separated, lost, and alone until I found myself in a government shelter. Then came Udayan Care, where strangers became family. For the first time in years, I felt seen and loved. The caregivers didn't just give me a roof—they gave me a home. Slowly, I began to believe in myself. Math became my escape, numbers my solace. Though shy, I pushed myself to speak up to make my parents proud. Hard work paid off—I aced school, earned an engineering degree, and even led my college football team to victory. But my biggest dream? Studying abroad. Rejections stung, but I refused to give up. Finally, the University of St. Andrews offered me a full scholarship. Today, as a post-graduate civil engineer, I look back at the boy who once had nothing but hope. Udayan Care didn't just change my life—it taught me that no storm lasts forever. With resilience and the right support, even the most difficult beginnings can lead to extraordinary futures. My journey is proof.

Udayan Shalini Fellowship, Dehradun Chapter
The crisp Dehradun air carried my childhood hopes. Growing up with modest means, I dreamed of a government job - not just for myself, but to secure a better future for my family. In 2009, being selected for the Udayan Shalini Fellowship marked a significant turning point in my life. Their belief in me helped my confidence blossom like rhododendrons in spring. My mentor, Mrs. Monika Sindhwani, became my anchor. "You have the grit, Neha - never falter," she'd say during our sessions, her faith fueling my late-night studies for the PCS exam. The journey tested me - each setback felt like another mountain to climb. But with Udayan's support and Mrs. Sindhwani's guidance, I persevered. The day I saw my name on the final selection list for Supply Inspector in Uttarkashi, every sacrifice I had made felt worth it. Now, when I wear my uniform, I carry more than just responsibility - I carry the collective belief of those who helped me soar. My story proves that even Himalayan dreams can be conquered with determination and the right support. To every girl who doubts her potential: Your mountains are waiting to be climbed. Keep climbing.

Udayan Shalini Fellowship, North Delhi Chapter
2016 shattered my world. When my parents separated, I became lost in the wreckage - a teenager watching her dreams slip away like sand through her fingers. Then Udayan Care appeared like sunlight breaking through storm clouds, offering a scholarship. Money was tight, but Mr. Aashish Aggarwal's workshops taught me that our circumstances don't define our potential. Each session at Udayan Care became sacred ground where I rebuilt myself, discovering that poetry could heal wounds and numbers could build futures. In those hallowed halls, I found my voice again. Not the timid whisper of a broken girl but the strong cadence of a young woman transforming pain into purpose. The fellowship didn't just polish my academic skills; it resurrected my self-confidence. Today, as an Assistant Manager at Deloitte India, I still carry those lessons with me. The late-night study sessions. The mentors who saw my potential when I couldn't. The poetry that saved me. My journey proves that the right support can help you rebuild and become stronger, even when life breaks you. To anyone standing in the wreckage of their dreams: Hold on. Help exists. Your breakthrough is coming. Let my story remind you - the most beautiful mosaics are made from broken pieces.

At 17, I balanced schoolbooks and teacups at my parents' stall, watching their tired hands serve endless customers. The scent of brewing chai mingled with my dreams - I wanted to help, but didn't know how. Then I discovered Udayan Care's IT Centre. That four-kilometer walk each morning? My mother's worried eyes followed me until she saw the change - how my nervous fingers learned to dance across keyboards, how my voice grew steadier with each lesson. When IENERGIZER offered me ₹15,500 per month, we shed tears of joy. Though health interrupted my job, it couldn't erase my newfound confidence. My greatest pride? Guiding cousins Sumit and Anjali to Udayan Care, watching them transform just like I had. Today, when I pass the tea stall, I see more than struggle - I see possibility. Udayan Care didn't just teach me computers; they showed me how to rewrite my family's story. To every girl doubting her potential: Your breakthrough might be just one training course away. Keep walking toward it, one determined step at a time.

For three years, I watched my students grow while my dreams stood still. At 18, tutoring paid our bills, but we couldn't build our future. Then, my cousin said three words that changed everything: "Try Kaushal Kalp." Walking into that computer course, my hands shook more than they did holding chalk. But something magical happened—with each typing lesson came new confidence and, with every class, a brighter vision of who I could become. When my teacher noticed my commerce background and whispered, "Have you considered accounting?" it was as if someone had finally seen the real me. That six-month internship near Dwarka became my classroom of life. Today, four years later, I walked into a Moti Nagar CA firm not as a nervous intern but as a senior accountant. The numbers that once intimidated me now tell stories I understand fluently—GST, TDS, Income Tax—they're my new language. The most beautiful part? Kaushal Kalp never let go of my hand. When they invited me back to teach GST to new students, I saw my younger self in their eager eyes. I know that real success isn't just climbing up; it's giving back. To anyone standing where I once stood: Your turning point might be waiting at Kaushal Kalp. Mine was.

For years, I watched life through the window of my husband's stationary shop, my hands empty of dreams I couldn't read or write. Then came Udayan Care's Skill Centre - a sanctuary where my illiteracy didn't matter; only my determination did. The scent of beauty products became my new alphabet. In that women-only space, my fingers learned the language of curling irons and makeup brushes. For the first time, I wasn't someone's daughter or wife - I was a student, a future entrepreneur. Today, my tiny beauty parlour buzzes with neighbourhood women. When I style my mother-in-law for weddings, her proud smile means more than any certificate. The money I earn doesn't just buy groceries - it buys respect. Udayan Care didn't just teach me facials and hairstyling. They showed me how to uncover the confident woman hiding beneath years of self-doubt. Now, when I pick up a hairbrush, I'm not holding a tool - I'm holding the key to my independence. To every woman who thinks it's too late: My beauty parlour proves that dreams have no expiration date. Your second act is waiting.

I walked into my first beauty therapy class with my head down and my voice barely above a whisper. Coming from an ordinary family, the world of beauty treatments seemed dazzling and intimidating. How could someone as shy as I ever become a confident therapist? But my trainer saw something in me that I couldn't see in myself. With her patient guidance, I slowly emerged from my shell. Each practised hairstyle and every perfected makeup technique became a stepping stone to confidence. There were days when I wanted to quit, feeling that the techniques were impossible to master, but my trainer's belief in me never wavered. I move between a high-end salon and clients' homes with quiet assurance today. The hands that once trembled while holding a brush now create beauty with steady precision. When my regular clients request me by name, I still feel that thrill of disbelief. My journey wasn't about dramatic overnight success, but rather a gradual transformation, like carefully blending eyeshadow from dark to light. It proved that even the quietest voice can find its power with the right mentor. To anyone hesitating: Your starting point doesn't determine your destination. Every expert was once a beginner who chose to keep going.
