Vol8: No.3
May-June 2014

Hello Friends

It gives us immense pleasure to inform you that the summary report on Institutionalised Children: Seminar on Standards of Care and Mental Health, held on March 14-15, 2014, has been published and being distributed (for your copy do mail us at: iceb-journal@udayancare.org); we are also now accepting manuscripts for the second issue of our journal, Institutionalised Children Explorations and Beyond, the first issue of which was launched at the seminar.  We are also excited to accept our new batch of over 500 Shalinis as the registrations for Udayan Shalini Fellowships are now open across all its 9 chapters. To download the application form, click here.

Amidst our routine came a breeze of motivation in the form of the HITEC Award 2014 for India's Top NGO's 2014 to Udayan Care.  We also won the Pakhar Singh Foundation’s Award under their competition, “Tap your Potential to Dream Big” to develop a Management Information System that will serve our beneficiaries and you better.

To know more about the fun filled Summer Camp for our Udayan Ghar children, many exciting activities and new collaborations, read along.

Overseas Exposure

The two months brought along with it an enriching overseas exposure for not only Dr. Kiran Modi and Anjana Jain, but for the children as well.

The Change Makers of UC USA

Anita Akerkar, Treasurer of UC, USA, organised a fund raiser at her home in Seattle on her return from India for our children and Shalinis.

Our Supporters, Our Strength

Volunteers of YUM and Alexis Nadin from Global Giving made memories with our children and Shalinis, whilst CAF and UPS with our IT&VT students.

Having a Blast in Summer

This year's Udayan Care Summer Camp saw 150 children and 30 young adults enjoying their summer holidays with fun activities and many supporters.

A ‘Sena’ that Gives Back

While 67 Shalinis along with volunteers from Baxter raised awareness against diarrhoea, Shweta and Diskha did us proud at SPSTI summer school.
