Friendship Day celebrated with a ‘Little’ Difference!

Around 100 college students and corporate professionals and another 200 children, came together at the Udayan Care Friendship Hungama 2011 on Friendship Day at Tagore International School, East of Kailash, organized for the very first time. Many youngsters, showed keen interest in signing up as Big Friends. The Hungama was talked about in the media too. Udayan Ghar Programme
USA Beckons Udayans
Five boys from Mayur Vihar Ghar and two girls from Sant Nagar Ghar have been invited by the International Children Network to participate in the World Orphan Choir in USA!

Jaipur gets its very own Udayan Ghar
Udayan Care’s team in Jaipur, with the unflagging efforts of our donors Mr. Rajiv Jain and Mr. Suresh Shah from Africa and many others, have ensured that children will soon be moving into a home of their own!

Rakhi-Time for Sibling Revelry!
Rakhi celebrations brought together children from Udayan Ghars who not only celebrated the festival with gusto but also got the chance to bond with one another.

Udayan Shalini Fellowships (USF)
New Inductions ... New Hope
350 young girls from challenged economic backgrounds are brimming with new found hope after being selected for USF! With an investment of Rs.3.5 crores, any inputs from our supporters will only enable us to reach out to many more deserving young girls in USF Chapters of Delhi, Kolkata, Dehradun, Kurukshetra and Aurangabad!

Our Exemplary Shalinis
17 of our Shalinis from Dehradun applied for Scholarship for the Higher Education under which they will receive Rs.80,000/- p.a for higher education, many others fared well in their entrance exams and went ahead to pursue the courses of their choice.

Making a Difference
We sincerely thank Dr. Alok Ahuja of Dr. Ahuja’s Institute of Imaging and Laboratory Medicine, Dehradun for enrolling Alka Kashyap and Ekta for the Diploma in MLT - Medical Laboratory Technology- free of cost and also committing to enroll Shalinis for the Diploma every year while also ensuring employment.

Corporate Etiquette, Leadership Skills and Motivation shaping our Shalinis
Workshops were organized across all our USF chapters preparing young fellows for corporate life, instilling leadership skills, improving communication skills while motivating them.

Udayan Outreach Programme
For children it was Holistic Development and for parents the Way to Parenting! 
Keeping in mind the extreme hardships families face on a daily basis, our mentors organise fun workshops for children and valuable sessions for parents too. This time team work was the topic for children while sessions for parents helped them in aspects related to their children’s academics.
 
La Dolce Vita– It’s a Wonderful Life!
Disheartened parents, battling the effects of HIV,  got a fresh lease of life as they attended a workshop on Life and its possibilities. It is only due to the unwavering support of our mentors that these parents can wake up each day with hope.

Eager for More!
Children were invited for the Udayan Care Friendship Hungama 2011 on friendship day, with 15 children from Outreach eager to become Little Friends!

Udayan Care Information Technology & Vocational Training Centres
Farewell time for first batch of trainees of Spoken English Programme
Faculty members and students at Kishwarna – Udayan Care Computer Training and Learning Center, Badarpur, organized a farewell celebration for the first batch completing the Spoken English Programme.

Certificate Distribution Ceremony at Sidhrawali Centre
The faculty members of RKMF-Udayan Care Computer Training & Learning Center, Sidhrawali, organized a certificate distribution ceremony with Guest of Honour, Mrs. Vidhya Shredharan, Principal of Raman Munjal Vidya Mandir, distributing certificates to students who completed their respective courses.

Udayan Care Volunteer Management and Internship Programme

Young Visitors at our Ghars
25 students from British School’s Community Service Programme, visited children at Udayan Ghars in Gurgaon, Mehrauli, Mayur Vihar and Sant Nagar. Discussing their dreams and aspirations, all of them opened up, thereby sneaking a glimpse into each other’s lives.

Somnath was just 3 years old when he came to Udayan Ghar in 1992. Lost from his family, he was not even at an age when he could share his thoughts with us. Today at 22, Somnath is on his way to start his Engineering at the Engineering College in Ghaziabad. Read More……

Prof S. C Handa Plays a Pivotal Role

Jyoti Patva!

This time our mentor of Dehradun USF, Prof. S.C. Handa, played a pivotal role in creating not one but two Miracles of Hope. He played a life changing role of a true mentor and an exemplar for two of our USF girls, Jyoti Patva and Sakshi Sharma, both of whom despite their socio-economically challenged backgrounds, had always dreamed of becoming engineers. Neha Singhal continues to be part of Udayan Care, even 3 years after completing USF, just so she can give back to society and express her gratitude. She came aboard as a Big Friend in Udayan Care’s Big Friend Little Friend Programme, and last month also became Udayan Care’s donor, contributing a substantial sum to our General Fund!
