Miracles of Hope

IIM Beckons! Smita Verma is euphoric as she has been selected by not just one but 2 IIMs and has chosen IIM Indore! After completing schooling from S.S.K. Khalsa School, she chose Science-a field none in her family had ventured into before. She joined the Udayan Shalini Fellowship Programme as a class 11 student. The exposure, motivation and mentoring, in addition to financial support, enabled her to choose Engineering as a career.

During her sophomoric years in Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology, she was awarded a Gold medal for academic excellence and the coveted GE Foundation Leadership Scholarship-awarded to only 56 students all across India. In addition to financial benefits, this gave her a chance to attend workshops and to present ideas to leaders of GE.

After college, she worked for Fluor Daniel and UOP, Honeywell as a Piping Engineer. She also supports the education of two girls, becoming our first beneficiary-donor! Excited about her admission into IIM, she says her degree, will give her a chance to "give back to society".
