Helping Dreams Come TrueDrop a pebble in a pond...see the ripples it generates in the entire pond. Just one tiny pebble.... One ordinary individual too can make a huge difference, just like a tiny pebble. And helping an individual has a similar ripple effect. Spreading out in wider circles, help travels like a contagious gift; forces one to share it with others, once received. And one doesn't have to be wealthy or highly influential to make a meaningful difference to society - just determined. Based on this philosophy, our Big Friends Little Friends Programme encourages volunteers to be there for someone in need. |
One step closer toward pursuing the dreamOur Little Friend Vijay would watch his favourite shows, movies and internet clips, and teach himself the dance steps he would see on the screen. And that's where his Big Friend Shishir Singh decided to help him. He approached Delhi Dance Academy (DDA) and requested the management to admit Vijay. His innate skills and commitment toward dance impressed the management so much that they instantly agreed to enrol him into the basic level dance class at a subsidised fee. However, even the subsidised fee was too high for Vijay and his family to afford. His Big Friend Shishir Singh, along with another Big Friend Isha Almadi, together decided to pay the fee amount, turning Vijay's dream into a reality. Doesn't this make our hearts dance with joy! Mother's Day CelebrationsBeing a mother is the most satisfactory job in this world...and the most demanding! She has to run after her children, force them to be organised, feed them and shape their lives by doing small, unnoticeable things. She makes sacrifices and compromises throughout her life, to fulfil even the smallest wish of her child. What's the reward? Just one smile on her child's face. To salute this very spirit of motherhood, our Little Friends celebrated Mother's Day in one of our base meets at Kanak Durga. They created beautiful greeting cards as a token of love for their mother. They were asked to write five unique things about their mother or something for which they felt grateful to her. At the end of the activity, Little Friends showed their greeting cards and read out their messages to all other members, and also promised us to present the cards to their mothers on Mother's Day. |
Miracles happen when individuals, with a shared mission, embark on the same journey. We are overwhelmed to see the kind of support we receive from ASOS, one of world's leading fashion brands.
The sky seems to be the only limit for our supporters. The team at ASOS, along with their CEO and COO, Nick Robertson and Nick Beighton, performed a daring abseil jump from their office roof, braving rain and wind, for a fundraiser for Udayan Care. They took part along with 45 others and raised around €9,000 from family, friends and suppliers.
Thank you ASOS!! It is your contribution and continued support that is making possible a home of their own for the girls of NOIDA Udayan Ghar.
Who doesn't like gifts?
We like ours to be thoughtfully conceived, neatly wrapped in love, and carefully delivered with a warm heart. In return, we have a better future, replete with good ethos and values to offer.
We want to thank Karthik Ramaswamy,
a volunteer, who had joined us in 2014. He single-handedly managed to raise the funds to buy two laptops, which he would donate to two Udayan Ghars, upon joining us again in July end.
We would also like to thank Wes and Aralia, our International volunteers, for their generous gesture of donating coolers to our Ghaziabad Ghar on their daughter's birthday. It is a big respite for the children in the scorching heat of the city.
Amit Ahlawat, an author by profession, had interned with Udayan Care several years back. He has now signed an MOU with us to donate 50% of his earnings collected on a monthly basis from his book. Thank you, Amit, for the gift of sustainable happiness!
