To gain an understanding on various aspects of child sexual abuse (CSA), a workshop was held at the Head office of Udayan Care, on December 22nd, 2018. The workshop helped participants comprehend the gravity of CSA and its impacts on mental health, as well as learn about effective safeguarding practices that exist globally. Attendees at the workshop included mentors and staff from Udayan Ghars, members from Child Welfare Committees, District Child Protection Officers, and some NGOs.
Presentations from Mr. Indrajit Bose, Advisor, Programme Development, SOS Children’s Villages, Ms. Lakshmi, Coordinator for ICEB, Udayan Care, Dr. Monisha C Nayar Akhtar, Psychotherapist & Psychoanalyst based in the USA, who is also ICEB's Editor-in-Chief, and Dr. Deepak Gupta, M.D., Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist, Delhi, dealt with child protection practices, current gaps in effective mental health support and suggested remedial measures to overcome the challenges.

Udayan Care’s 14 IT centres, across Delhi NCR, focuse not only on providing digital literacy to young individuals, from urban-rural settlements, but also to empower them with employability skills, leading to placements. To make this possible it is imperative to mentor them along with honing their skills.
Mr. Abhishek, who is a successful freelance trainer, conducted a 3-hour workshop on Career counselling on 24 November, 2018 at our Udayan Care IT Centre, supported by HMCL (South Delhi). The trainer addressed many doubts related to career choices by simply differentiating between passion, quality, hobby, requirements, aptitude and interest, and making the students undergo a lot of interactive activities in groups to expand their thinking.
LUSFP- Career Counselling & Give back to society at Baddi Chapter
A similar workshop on ‘Career Counselling’ and ‘Giving Back’ was conducted to encourage our Udayan Shalini Fellows from Luminous -Udayan Shalini Fellowship Programme (Baddi Chapter) to clear their doubts and guide them to become tomorrow’s responsible citizens. It was a great platform to clear individual doubts related to their career goals.

Care Leavers Association & Network (CLAN), a collective voice for all care leavers in Delhi, participated at a workshop- “How do you support youth once they reach 18 years”, organized by ‘Youth for Change Network’ on December 6th, 2018 in Delhi. Sakshi, a member of CLAN, shared the aims and objectives of CLAN at the workshop. The workshop participants were able to list out several challenges that come up when a child reaches 18 years of age and has to leave care settings and transition into the world independently.
CLAN members have decided to organise 4 workshops in this year to share good practices and discuss concrete solutions for the future, with other stakeholders. Six of our Udayan Shalini Fellows of the Mumbai chapter got an amazing opportunity to follow their heart and learn music by the renowned North Indian Classical Vocalist, Ms. Anita Kulkarni. The workshop called as Gandhaar was organized to acquaint our Shalinis about the different types of music instruments and ragas.
This workshop provided a Roadmap to Mentoring in USF Program and was conducted by Mrs. Geeta Balakrishnan, Ex Principal of College of Social Work Nirmala Niketan. She further deliberated on strengthen the mentor-mentee relationship.
