Udayan Care has been actively voicing and participating in bringing the dilemma and various circumstances a young person exiting alternative care experiences, to the fore.

On July 2018, “Giving a voice to young persons leaving care in India: Care Leavers’ Association and Network (CLAN)” was published in the Monthly review newsletter by International Reference Centre for the Rights of Children Deprived of their Families, ISS, Number 223, page 7.

Similarly, on August 5-6, 2018, Dr. Kiran Modi presented on “Care for children in CCIs” at the Expert Group curriculum development Consultation on “Prevention & Response to Child Abuse & Neglect by caregivers, front line workers and parents” held at India Habitat Center New Delhi.

Success Stories

Seeta Rani

Seeta Rani Before

  • Coming from an economically weak background, education for Seeta was a distant dream
  • Being the sole bread earner, her father couldn’t afford education for all the siblings
  • Seeta was initially a shy and timid girl, yet had a strong desire to become an independent girl

Seeta Rani now

  • In her five years of fellowship under Udayan Shalini Fellowship Programme, Seeta has gained wonderful confidence that has changed her personality incredibly. Today, Seeta can talk and communicate effortlessly
  • Seeta has completed a BBA from Beehive College
  • She is preparing to apply for a job while simultaneously also preparing for the CAT exams
  • The deep sense of giving back to the society and empowering others has led her to become a mentor didi to counsel younger girls, coming from similar backgrounds, in the USF Programme

Deepti Rathore

Deepti Rathore before

  • Deepti grew up in Budh Vihar, Rohini where her father is running a small vegetable shop, which helps him to manage his household expenses
  • An observant girl, often seeing her father struggle, she developed a deep desire to educate herself and help her father financially
  • Deepti was a bright student and a fast learner
  • Having a commerce background, she started pursuing her graduation from Delhi University through a distance learning B.com program
  • Due to financial crisis her father could not  enroll her in a commercial institute to train her in a professional IT course.
  • This is when one of Deepti’s cousin connected her with UC-SVP CICL where she started learning a job specific course in accounting.

Deepti today

  • She was able to receive an intense training in Accounting software (Tally ERP)
  • Deepti was selected in Logitech Solutions Pvt. Ltd. (Noida) as a Tally support executive with a good entrant level package
  • Deepti expresses that she got a platform where she received the right training and could nurture herself in the same sector that she had dreamt of

Simran

Simran before

  • Having lost her father at a very young age, all the responsibility shifted to her mother.
  • Deepti’s persistent mother started working as an agent in Sahara India and funded the education for her daughter.
  • Simran completed her schooling from state government school and presently she is pursuing B.A Programme from University of Delhi
  • She faced a lot of problems in her education and therefore wanted a right place and right environment for her education ahead. She got connected to UC – SVP CICL though her friends who are already a part of same center

Simran today

  • Simran completed her Diploma in Information Technology (DIT) from UC – SVP CICL.
  • Her training helped her focus in developing her communication skills
  • Immediately after completing her education, she got selected in NJ Enterprises (Rohini) as a telemarketing executive where she has started grooming herself in a professional manner
