Determination to touch the Sky
Jainendra travelled from a small village of Allahabad, U.P to the city of Delhi with hopes, aspirations and dreams to pursue a career. An ordinary boy from a peasant family, he wanted to lend a helping hand to his father, the soul bread earner of the family.
In search of a job, Jainendra walked the length and breadth of the streets, passing every nook and corner of the city, only to face rejections at interviews for inadequate skills and lack of confidence. But he did not give up, and decided to join Udayan Care’s ITVT Centre about which he had heard from a neighbor. Jainendra recently completed his 6 months Diploma in Computer Application (DCA), nurtured his IT skills, attended various workshops and gained skills in leadership, time management, professional etiquettes that helped him groom his overall personality. Today, Jainendra is working as a Customer Care Executive in a reputed company, earning a salary good enough to support himself and his family.
Kamla Sheikh was inducted as an Udayan Shalini Fellowship in the year 2011. She lives with her mother and an elder sister, as her father abandoned them after she took birth. Her mother worked hard to support the family. The poor living conditions, and the burden of her mother’s everyday struggle and pain, made Kamla more determined. She did not let the adversity to distract her from her studies. Her mother always told her that education is the key to achieve success in life. Throughout her school and college years, Kamla maintained her academic level very well.
Being a sincere, punctual, and participative Shalini, the financial and mentoring support was a blessing, and as Kamla says, “ USF took complete charge of my life from the day I took a pledge to strive as a Shalini, and apart from the monetary support, USF taught me innumerable life skills, that helped me overcome my fears during moments of challenge, thus preparing me to identify my core competencies, improve my personality and achieve success and happiness.” Today, Kamla is working with Aasra Trust as a Teacher in English subject, with a sense of pride and responsibility, and in the spirit of sharing and giving back to society.
