This project, like the Udayan Ghar IV,
is also housed in Jagshanti Udayan Care at Greater Noida.
CREATE is an acronym for 'Centre for Rehabilitation,
Education and Thought Enrichment.' The Udayan Care
vision is to integrate rehabilitation, education and
therapy services with care-giving and parenting for
the disadvantaged child, where research on such topics
would be very important; thus the emergence of CREATE.
CREATE has come up as a result of addressing
the following issues:
How can Udayan Care ensure the best education possible?
How can Udayan Care plan for superior
support and counselling services?
Udayan Care has to plan for 'Continuing
Education' and 'After Care Services' till such time
Udayan Ghar children become economically self-sufficient.
Udayan Care's commitment to sharing its skills with
the communities around.
Jagshanti Udayan Care is the fountain head for the older
children to stay and equip themselves with the skills
to stand on their own feet - academic skills, vocational
skills, emotional and spiritual skills, and above all,
skills in sustaining family relationships. Besides the
present 'Udayan Ghar IV' for 32 girls, it has additional
facilities for 13 more girls to be accommodated.
CREATE facilitates following programmes
for the community and our children:

Counselling and Guidance Centre

Our
Counselling & Guidance Centre was set up with the
help of Wings of Support, Holland. Under this, our psychiatrist,
counsellors, and social workers, plan their mental
health programme for all our children across Homes,
which includes tests, assessments, identification, therapy
programmes as well as capacity building workshops. An
important function of this centre is also to conduct
small research studies
to evaluate our own rehabilitation and education programmes
in the Ghars. Equally important is to document our work,
initiate research on long-term care of sexual abuse
issues, and train teachers and professionals in schools,
NGOs and other institutions involved in similar activities

Stitching and Tailoring Centre
Our
Stitching and Tailoring Centre was set up with the help
of LG Electronics Ltd. in the beginning of 2004, and
has more than 25 machines. It is running in two shifts,
where it seeks to benefit our children in the Ghar as
well women from the neighbouring communities come and
learn stitching, tailoring and embroidery. While a nominal
fee is charged to make the centre self sufficient, those
who cannot pay are also given free shifts. Additionally,
these ladies are given free classes in English language
and life skills training.
We are providing certification from USHA International
Ltd., which would help these ladies in getting better
jobs once they leave us. A Fashion Designing Course
has also been introduced in the center. During the year
2005-06, 63 ladies received training from the center,
out of which 25 are known to have started working from
their homes and adding to the incomes of their families.
Our dream is to make this into a Production Centre so
that it becomes a Centre of Income Generation for these
women.

Computer Centre

The
Computer Centre, which has 11 state-of-art computers,
was set up with the help of America India Foundation,
U.S. in 2004. Our own children from Udayan Ghar IV,
as well as people from the community learn here. Those
who cannot pay are taught free, while others pay a nominal
amount. A total of 122 students have received training
from this Centre so far, besides the children of Udayan
Care. In 2005-06, 62 students joined the Centre. Out
of these, 24 are reported to have gained employment
and 10 are self employed.

Art Gallery

Our
Art Gallery displays the works of Art, created in our
own workshops with the reputed artists. We have dream
of turning it into a commercial gallery.

Open Air Theatre

A
hub of activity during performances and celebrations,
the open air theatre is available to the nearby community
as well. The theatre makes a beautiful setting for small
plays and functions and our children are an ever-ready
audience.

Beauty Therapy Center

With the support of Ankur Society we have set up a Beauty
Therapy Center. The aim is holistic rehabilitation through
teaching beauty therapy course. It seeks to benefit
young girls of our Udayan
Ghars and also empowering women in the neighbouring
communities and villages with beauty therapy skills,
thereby enabling them to get jobs or set up their own
parlours. Once the training is completed, opening a
beauty center at home would provide a high return on
a small investment, yet staying with their families.
This is an advantage especially where a woman may not
feel free to pursue a career or work outside the house
in a male oriented environment. The Beauty Therapy Centre
is at present benefiting 3 girls from Udayan Ghars and
7 from the neighbourhood communities. We are making
efforts to popularize its services.

Yoga Center

A Yoga Centre was opened at
Jagshanti
Udayan Ghar in 2005 for the benefit of our children
as well as for the neighbouring community. 23 individuals
from the neighbouring communities have benefited out
of it, in addition to the children of Udayan Care, who
are practicing it regularly. We are looking for a Yoga
teacher presently.
